2017-2018 Creative Work Grant Recipient

Support for a residency hosted by Diaspora Vibe Cultural Arts Incubator in Miami to develop a series of work, New Rain.

Gerard Caliste received a Creative Work from Ana & Adeline Foundation to return to the Diaspora Vibe Cultural Arts Incubator (DVCAI) in Miami, FL for a monthlong residency in June and July 2017. He will be developing New Rain, a series of new paintings. At DVCAI, Gerard will participate in the DVCAI salon, in conversation with other resident artists. Gerard will also be the Artist-in-Residence at the Betsy Hotel Miami Beach, where he will host an Artist Breakfast in July. 

 

This is Gerard's third award from Ana & Adeline Foundation. He received his first grant from the foundation in 2015, to expand upon a series of paintings in progress. Gerard also received a Creative Venture Grant to attend his first residency at the DVCAI during the 2015-2016 grant cycle, which was co-sponsored by the National Performance Network/Visual Arts Network.

Gerard is a teaching artist based in Houston, TX. He earned his BFA from Savannah College of Art and Design, where he was awarded a Presidential Scholarship. His work has been shown extensively across the U.S. and is included in numerous private collections.

 

He was a YAYA Artist from 1994-1997.
