Channel Guice Thomas is pursuing an AA in Fashion Design & Merchandising at Santa Monica College. She is a fiber artist and creator of channelguice collective, a brand of wearable art, jewelry and fashions made from handmade batik textiles.
“There was always a sewing machine in my house, so I didn’t think much of it because my mother made sewing look easy,” says Guice Thomas. “Clothing is something we take for granted not understanding the human component that it requires. Sewing gives me a connection to my mother. It feels like that tradition that passes down with each generation within a family.”
Guice Thomas studied Apparel Construction at Santa Monica Sewing Center in 2016 & 2017. She studied Elementary Education at the University of Louisiana in Monroe from 2013-2015 and received an Associates of Arts in Business Administration/Visual Communications at American Intercontinental University in 2007.
Channel Guice Thomas was active in the YAYA young artists’ guild from 1996-2001.
