Derroles "the Dressmaker" Taylor has worked as a designer and seamstress in New Orleans for 12 years. She specializes in making custom formal gowns and special occasion garments and was invited to showcase her collection in the 2019 New Orleans Fashion Week.  Her grant will be invested in the equipment, materials and fees for her runway show. Four of Taylor's 18 featured gowns will be hand-painted by herself, YAYA alumnus Gerard Caliste, painter and activist Journey Allen, and painter, activist and owner of Studio B., Brandan B-mike Odums. Taylor's vision is to link two artistic disciplines, creating a runway show that is also a walking painting exhibit. She plans to exhibit the painted gowns in galleries and museums following their debut on the NOFW runway.

Taylor studied Business Management at Xavier University and Design Management at Parsons School of Design.

Derroles was active in the YAYA guild 2000-2005.
