Ian Jackson is pursuing a BA in Fashion Design from the Fashion Institute of Technology (FIT) in NYC (He is currently studying virtually from Louisiana due to the ongoing global pandemic). He graduated from the New Orleans Center for Creative Arts (NOCCA) and St. Augustine High School in 2018.

Jackson credits his teachers in grooming him “to be a multifaceted craftsman and to stay true to who I (am) as an artist.” He set his sights on studying fashion at FIT as a sophomore in high school, and focus and drive led to the fulfillment of his dream.

He spent a year assisting Tommy Hilfiger with the execution of the Tommy Jean and Zendaya collaboration. He also spent time working at New York Fashion Week and for New York-based designer Christian Cowan.

Jackson has his own clothing brand, Category 5, and plans to use the profits to fund the construction of new homes for displaced citizens one day. Fashion is his main form of expression, but he would like to work in other realms of design in the future. He looks forward to the day he can return “to find peace in NYC because I honestly feel like it's where I belong and I would really like to be present to learn my craft first hand. One thing I can say the pandemic did not affect was my will to create and grow.”

Ian Jackson is an active member of the YAYA guild, which he joined in 2012.
