Paul Wright is a senior majoring in illustration at Parsons School of Design in New York.  Wright’s senior year is devoted to his thesis, in which he proposes to document, archive and paint people of the colored student body in his graduating class. People of color represent only 5% of the school’s entire student body. Inspired by the writing and work of James Baldwin and Booker T. Washington, Wright seeks to show how they exist in a predominantly white space.

Paul graduated from the acclaimed high school, New Orleans Center for Creative Arts in 2012. Accomplished at a young age, Wright has had residencies and exhibitions at the Cow House Studios, Joan Mitchell Center, the Guggenheim Museum, George Rodrigue Gallery, Contemporary Art Center New Orleans, the African American Museum, and 5 Press Gallery.

Paul participated in the YAYA young artists’ guild 2007-2014.
