Monica Tyran is a printmaker who is working with graphic designer Maria Hinds to build her artist website. The two will create a central online space to display Tyran's work, ongoing and potential projects, and archives. Tyran will spend five months working in the Baskerville studio to print new editions and reprint editions from past projects to expand her portfolio. She will then team up with Hinds to curate, design and develop the website to launch in March 2020. Her website will feature her artwork, learnings, and projects that have broadened her partnerships and connections in the community of artistic practice. She has opened her capacity to pursue more residency opportunities and open calls, and this website will be a tool in obtaining artistic opportunities and advancement.

Throughout her career, Tyran has balanced her art practice and her passion for arts administration.  She studied screen printing and printmaking at Penland School of Arts & Crafts and letterpress and bookmaking at San Francisco Center for the Book. Her work has been exhibited at the New Orleans Community Printshop, the Contemporary Arts Center, and the Stella Jones Gallery in New Orleans. She currently works for the National Performance Network as the Program Manager of Leveraging a Network for Equity (LANE), and she serves on the board of directors at YAYA. Previously, she served an internship with International Studio & Curatorial Program in Brooklyn, sponsored by Art Table, and worked for YAYA as the Program and Studio Coordinator 2008-2014. Tyran earned a BA in Visual Arts from Dillard University and a MA in Arts Administration from the University of New Orleans.

Tyran was active the YAYA guild 2004-2007.
