RUSSELL BREAUX

New Orleans, LA

2025-2026 Grant Home Glass Studio Setup

Russel Breaux enjoys creating abstract drawings and glass sculptures. He is inspired by the vibrant colors of New Orleans and creating art for arts sake. “The driving force behind my passion to make art is the ability to make things that are not only visually appealing but also functional,” says Breaux.

With this grant, he will purchase a new torch that will elevate the glass art he produces in his home garage. “With an upgraded torch, I believe my glass art would continue to improve and open up possibilities for new projects. I aspire to get to the point where I can make cups at home that look better than the ones in my pantry,” he states. A new torch will allow him to create larger work at a faster pace.

“My favorite aspect of creating glass art is finding patterns and colors that can be used to give the audience some insight on my thought process,” Breaux reflects. He enjoys crafting vibrant vessels, cups, bowls, and dishes. The new  torch will enable him to create intricate designs and patterns on his pieces. He elaborates, “Having the new torch would open up new opportunities to make more functional art and learn new techniques that I can perfect in my home garage.”

Russel Breaux graduated from the Willow School in 2024. He earned a Certificate in Welding from the New Orleans Career Center in 2025. He first joined the YAYA Guild in 2023.
