Scholarship 2024-2025, 2025-2026
Blair Augillard is entering his junior year at Grambling State University, where he is pursuing a B.A. in Visual and Performing Arts. His study of digital art, mural design, and painting is allowing him to develop both technical skills and personal artistic style. His creative work is inspired by skateboarding culture and fashion. “The bold graphics, individuality, and freedom of expression found in skate culture inspire the style, movement, and energy within my work. Fashion also plays a role in how I think about color, layering, and visual storytelling, allowing me to create pieces that feel current, expressive, and connected to everyday life,” he explains.
Community is also an important part of his creative practice. “My goal is to build a career as a professional artist while mentoring and inspiring young artists, using my work to connect with and uplift communities,” states Augillard, noting the public reach of his murals that represent culture. “When creating murals, I carefully consider the environment and community the piece will live in, ensuring that the work feels connected to the space.” Augillard worked as a camp counselor at Interlochen Arts Camp the past two summers and is passionate about helping young artists discover that creativity can be a powerful outlet and a pathway to opportunity.
He was raised between West Virginia and New Orleans, and he sees sanctity in those places which shows up in his artwork. “I am also inspired by the culture around me—music, street art, community stories, and the resilience of the people I see every day. Growing up between West Virginia and New Orleans has given me a deep appreciation for contrast, diversity, and expression, all of which show up in my work,” he explains.
Blair Augillard graduated from Willow High School in 2024. He interned in the archive department of Longue Vue House and Gardens in 2025 and is an active member of the YAYA Guild which he first joined in 2017.
