Channel Guice Thomas is pursuing an Associates of Arts in Studio Art from Santa Monica College. After graduating in January 2024, she plans to transfer to California State University to earn a BA in Fashion, Fiber, and Materials. Guice Thomas is an honor student, a member of the Black Collegians Program (Affinity Group), Fashion Club, and Peer Navigator (Mentor/ Student Work Program), all while maintaining five classes. She is creator of channelguice collective, a brand of wearable art, jewelry and fashions made from handmade batik textiles. “Batik is what I have leaned into the longest, but I work in wood, metals, paper, and textile,” says Guice Thomas.

She is inspired by nature, human relationships, societal issues, and more. “I feel like my work is not something I can fully take credit for because it comes from a place deep within, and I am only the vessel that brings it forward,” she says. “I believe that art has the power to inspire, challenge and transform us, and I am honored to play a small part in this ongoing conversation.”

Guice Thomas studied Apparel Construction at Santa Monica Sewing Center in 2016 & 2017. She studied Elementary Education at the University of Louisiana in Monroe from 2013-2015 and received an Associates of Arts in Business Administration/Visual Communications at American Intercontinental University in 2007.

Channel Guice Thomas first joined the YAYA Guild in 1995.
