David Garcia Patiño is designer, storyteller, and craftsman who uses fashion as a medium to communicate identity, culture, and narrative. He earned a B.S. in Design and Merchandising from Drexel University in 2025 and has since been focused on continuing to build his brand Prophecy, a collaborative project with his partner Kyron Butler. Prophecy explores the fusion of streetwear and couture through limited edition clothing drops. “I started this brand as a fusion of my love of making 1 of 1 items and fashion,” explains Garcia Patiño, who launched the brand while still in high school.
“I am a designer rooted in both creative exploration and technical precision, using fashion as a medium to communicate identity, culture, and narrative. Now I am in an effort to expand that,” he states. “Through Prophecy, I design and produce limited edition clothing drops, scaling each project from concept to final product, for those who want to stand out and be different from the general public. Every piece is developed with a strong attention to detail, ensuring consistency in brand identity through precise font usage, graphic designs, and cohesive visual storytelling.” This grant will allow him to establish a formal business structure, purchase essential supplies and equipment, expand manufacturing collaborations, and support marketing efforts. “Motivation lies in the belief we can serve both as a creative outlet and a vehicle for impact. Our long term goal is to build a company that not only produces meaningful work, but also creates opportunities for others,” he reflects.
Garcia Patiño continues to expand his portfolio as a freelance designer and collaborate with other creatives and brands. He gained experience designing at Hines & Daye where he developed production-ready designs in a collaborative environment. “These experiences allow me to adapt to different design languages while contributing my own perspective, further developing my versatility and understanding of the industry,” he explains.
David Garcia Patiño first joined the YAYA Guild in 2018.
