Jerri Brown is pursuing a B.A. in Visual Communications - Graphic Design from Delgado Community College. He is a mixed media artist specializing in digital art and photography, though his creative practice encompasses glassblowing, comic design, illustration, and animation. In 2025, Brown founded 504ArtNet, a community collective focusing on events where collaboration takes place between artists, creatives, entrepreneurs, and local residents.
“I create art that reflects my mental health struggles and the hope I find in Afro-futurism,” says Brown. Themes of self-love can be found in his digital illustrations, which he creates in a mosaic style inspired by African scarification – body modification with symbolic meaning. “I love the simplicity and abstractness of Afro-Futurism because it allows for more attention to smaller details within my work; so much can be said with less,” he explains.
Brown has participated in numerous residencies across the USA. He was an artist in residence at the Corning Museum of Glass in Corning, New York. He studied cyanotype, long-exposure photography, and paper-making at Penland School of Craft in Spruce Pine, North Carolina, In 2024, Brown explored blown glass objects and neon at Pilchuck Glass School in Tacoma, Washington. Brown then participated in a 10-day residence at Wheaton Arts in Millville, NJ, partnering with seasoned glass artists. Other notable residencies include the Oxbow School in Napa Valley, California, and a weeklong stay in Asheville, North Carolina, interning with The Village Potters and North Carolina Glass.
Jerri Brown first joined YAYA in 2014, where he is a current Senior Guild Artist. He studied Graphic Design at Tulane University School of Professional Advancement before transferring to Delgado Community College.
